Most dog owners will make this massive mistake by not using dog leash training. This critical part of your dogs training is so fundamental because if you can achieve this when outside in unfamiliar surroundings and gain your dogs trust, then you'll find that teaching your dog within your home to behave appropriately will be so simplier.
For your dog to walk as desired will take some time, I'm not going to lie to you, the good news is that you will automatically get a chance to do this on a daily basis as walking your dog is something you will have to do each day.
Every time you start to get ready to take your dog for a walk he'll usually turn into a ball of activity and he will have a look of glee across his panting face. The reason this happens is because a lot of dog owners will wind their dog up by saying something like "WALKIES" to them.

Most keepers find this amusing and then wonder why their dog is so badly behaved when they are out. You can't do this because it will make your dog leash training endeavours even more testing.

If you do this you'll be making life so difficult for yourself and without even knowing it you'll be failing before you even begin.
This will help you get started with leash training your dog:
To begin with you will need a leash that is about 4-5 foot long. Make sure you also have a properly fitting collar, enough so that you can get 3 fingers between the collar and your dogs skin quite comfortably.
Pick a word to use in way of getting your dog to stop his pulling, choose a word that you can give quickly and this needs to be a word you can give forcefully to your dog.

I like to use "Heel" or "Wait." Then you'll need a separate command for getting your dog to move again.
Whilst out on your walk make sure you always get your dog to come back to your side and calm down before you set off again. Always get him into a sit position and and don't let him dictate when you set off. Use a piece of meat or a biscuit in the beginning to entice him back to your side but always couple this with a command to get him to come back to you.
When dog leash training you want your dog to walk on a loose leash and to listen to you whenever you give a command.

If you don't take charge of your dog whenever he is on the lead then he will be an absolute nightmare when you start to let him off.
